Students worked in poetry centers for the first time this school year. Over the month students will participate in all four centers.
| The anthology center is a place where students can read and discover new poems. When students find a poem with special meaning to them, they copy it down to add to their anthology. In the picture, a student copies down a My Brother is a Quarterback. |
| This week students learned about list poems while at our forms of poetry center. Students have the option to write a list poem all about themselves or a poem about what bugs them. |
| In the word play center, students crack open film containers to find mixed up simple sentences. Students put the sentence in order and rewrite it using sentence expanders to make it more descriptive. |
| At the observation station some students explored a bee close up using the microscope. Students were then asked to write describing words the represented the bee. |
| Other students used binoculars to look out our classroom windows and discover the natural objects around us. These students also listed the objects and recorded describing words. |
