Classroom Updates

I can't believe it is already February!  Half the year has flown by and we have another half to go.  Below are some quick updates of classroom happenings.

Report Cards: Second quarter report cards will be sent home today.  The report card is for you to keep.  The envelope needs to be signed and returned to school.

Science:  This past month we have begun investigating liquids in science.  Students are using inquiry based methods to get hands on and develop their own thinking and conclusions.   Students are also getting involved in science meetings where they are learning to explain their thinking and support it with evidence from their experiments.  Check back soon for updates and pictures of the students' explorations.

Milk Jugs:  To prepare us for our next science unit I am looking for donations of emptied and cleaned milk jugs and soda bottles.  These will be used for our life science unit in which we will be exploring plants.  Please send these in as they become available.  The more the merrier! Thanks!

Volunteers: I would like to get our volunteer schedule back up and running for February.  If you would like to volunteer please send me an email with available days and I can let you know what times work best.  On most days I have morning and afternoon times available.

Flat Stanley: The Flat Stanley projects that have come in so far have been AMAZING!  Stanley has gone to Boston, ice skating, sledding, to the hospital, and even to a science lab.  The students are really enjoying this project and love sharing their ideas with the class.  As you finish up more stories please send them on in for us to enjoy!
