Student News- Week of 11/29/10

I am excited to announce the start of Student News!  Each Friday students will work in small groups to report on aspects of our week in their own words.  Their news stories will be collected and placed here for you to enjoy and take a peek into their world here at school.

Reporters: Allison, Mark, Christopher         Topic: Gym
In gym we were going to do a pacer test.  We went in groups.  When we didn't finish two laps our test was over.  Partners watched us so they could see how many laps we did.  We kept score on a cheet of paper and we checked off a circle for each lap our partners did.

Reporters: Ma'ayan, Thomas, Alden, Corbin  Topic: Math
This week we focused on estimating with dollars and cents in math.  We worked on three pages in our math journal.  We had to do alot of thinking on one page.  It was fun though.

Reporters: Alex, Raymond, Jenna             Topic: Open Court
Today (Friday) we took a Open Court test.  The story was Come Back, Jack!  We did the Come Back, Jack test on the computers in the computer lab.  After we finished the test the computer gives a grade and it checks the work after we are done.

Reporters:  Celia, Erin, Shayla, Amanda    Topic: Social Studies
On Monday we learned songs and poems about the seven continents and five oceans.  We can name them, Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.

Reporters: Kyle, Johnna, Seamus              Topic: Centers
This week we started centers.  There was making change, spin a word, switching books, versatiles, reading from the blue bins, and the sentence building machine.

Reporters: Keira, Cole, Jack                    Topic: Read aloud
We were reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  We read the part where Charlie finds the ticket and the gate was opening.  It was fun to read the book.
